Power up for some Positive thinking!
Positive thinking is a state of mind. Some days you naturally wake up in a positive frame of mind but others you don’t! Have you noticed on the days you wake up feeling good that somehow everything seems to work for you? The traffic lights are green as you go to work and finding a parking space is easy! The sun is shining. The whole universe seems to be on your side.
However on the days you wake feeling sulky and forlorn the opposite occurs. Everything seems to conspire against you and you wish you’d never got out of bed in the first place.
What is going on?
When you feel anxious, or out of sorts physically, your ability to take in the fullness of your environment through your senses is impaired. You actually don’t hear or see as well and your mind becomes foggy. Decisions that you make while feeling like this are based on inaccurate information, which in turn produces a poor result and the situation snowballs and worsens. Think of a time when you were frightened or scared. Do you recall how you were unable to properly take in and assess all that was going on around you?
It makes sense then to look after yourself both physically and mentally. Looking after your body enhances mental prowess and visa versa. Being in a healthy, relaxed, state of mind as much as you can, gives the brain the best chance to fully understand the situation you are in and to make clear focused choices. Easier said than done I hear you cry.
But is it possible to develop a way of thinking positively?
Yes it most certainly is!
Due to the networking structure of neurons, the more often positive thinking occurs,
the more those particular thought pathways are used and the easier it becomes to do. By imputing good thoughts you greatly increase the constructive thinking habit!

As Winston Churchill said so succinctly,
“ A pessimist sees the difficulties in every opportunity an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.”
